We are excited to play in the Junior Beanpot Charity Challenge Tournament from January 12 and 13, 2024 to benefit SCI Boston and Journey Forward.
The Jr. Beanpot started in 2017 as the Bar Mitzvah project of then 13-year old Brookline High School Senior defenseman Jacob Gurdin. Jacob motivated his Boston Junior Eagles team to play with the Junior Huskies, Junior Crimson, and Junior Terriers in a Jr. Beanpot tournament to benefit the Travis Roy Foundation at the newly opened Warrior Arena. Jacob chose the Foundation because of Travis Roy’s amazing story and his commitment to helping other spinal cord injury survivors get the equipment they need to live as independently as possible. Since the first year of the tournament, fundraising efforts have grown across four youth hockey tournaments and two high school hockey tournament games. During the pandemic, we hosted a charity golf tournament at the Brookline Golf Course. To date, the Jr. Beanpot has raised over $107,000 to help people with paralysis.
More than 17,750 people in the United States are unexpectedly paralyzed through traumatic spinal cord injuries every year. There still isn't a cure. SCI Boston and Journey Forward address a cause very important to us. Please consider supporting us in our efforts for this worthy cause!
Please support us as generously as you can!
