Jay Bolton
Hello everyone!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am excited to be running the 2025 Boston Marathon on behalf of SCIboston! I can honestly say that running a marathon was never something I thought I’d be doing! However, an innocent conversation about running with Jeff Kuhl, a colleague and last year's SCIboston runner, changed that sentiment. Our conversation ended with me saying "absolutely not" and him encouraging me to check out the SCIboston website and think about it. As soon as I started reading about the incredible work SCIboston does for individuals affected by spinal cord injury, it became clear that I had to do it.
I grew up about 2 hours away from Boston in Litchfield, Connecticut. While I was never a runner growing up, sports played a significant role in my life. I enjoyed competing in just about anything and was fortunate enough to play football in college. Since then, I stayed mostly in Connecticut and about 15 years ago, settled back in Litchfield with my wonderful wife Sarah, our two sons Roch (14) and Lucas (12), and our dog (and running companion), Copper. Over the many years since college, I've been an on-and-off runner in a mostly failed attempt to stay in shape. However, over the last 4-5 years, it’s become more "on" than "off", which has given me the confidence to commit to the training required to run a successful marathon.
For the last 14+ years I’ve worked in sales for Boston Scientific and am motivated by our mission of advancing science for life. In many ways, it’s the same motivation I have gained from learning about the work SCIboston does. The support they provide to individuals and families affected by spinal cord injuries comes in many forms, including one-on-one peer mentoring, support groups, social events, and grants for durable medical equipment and vehicle modifications. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute in a small way to their work and I urge all of my friends, family, and anyone else who reads this to please consider contributing to their very worthy cause.
Thank you so much for your support in helping me achieve my fundraising goal for SCIboston!
SCIboston's mission is to Reach, Inspire, Support & Empower individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D). We are the only organization in Massachusetts to solely offer peer support as well as tangible and practical resources to give people the tools and hope to find their path for living a meaningful life with an SCI/D. We are most proud of our nationally-recognized peer mentor program that provides positive peer role models to injured individuals and their families both during inpatient and after rejoining the community. We also offer a variety of resources including support groups and social events. SCIboston has never charged for its services. The Chapter relies solely on donations, sponsors, and grants to fund its peer programs. To learn more about us click here!
