Hi Everyone,
I am beyond excited to share that I will be running the 2025 Boston Marathon on behalf of SCI Boston! This is a lifelong dream of mine that I am sure I will cherish forever.
I first heard about SCI Boston through family, where I was fortunate to be connected with Beth Weaver. She was able to put me in contact with Molly Saebo, who shared with me the important work that SCI Boston is doing for the New England community and specifically for people with spinal cord injuries. I am honored to be given the opportunity to support such a critical cause, and play a part in raising funds for SCI Boston.
I currently live in Austin, Texas with my fiancée, but I am originally from Gothenburg, Sweden. My connection to New England stems from my undergraduate degree at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH. I am the oldest of two brothers and spent a significant amount of time playing competitive tennis from age 7 to 24. Tennis got me traveling to dozens of European countries trying to go pro, and it eventually landed me a scholarship in the United States, where I met my lovely fiancée. Upon graduating from college, I moved out west to San Francisco, California where I spent 5 years before moving to Austin, Texas. I have been working as a contracting manager through VACO for Google since 2018, more specifically on the continuous human evaluation of Google advertisements in various forms. I am grateful that my job allows me the flexibility of working from home, so that I can efficiently put time and effort into doing what I love, running!
No previous marathon that I have run measures up to the excitement of running the Boston Marathon. I encourage my friends and family to take some time and explore this page to learn more about the important work that SCI Boston does for people with spinal cord injuries. Please consider supporting my fundraising effort by donating any amount you can to SCI Boston through this page. This way, SCI Boston can help more people with the equipment they need to live a fully functioning and fulfilling life.
Thank you - Gustav
SCIboston's mission is to Reach, Inspire, Support & Empower individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D). We are the only organization in Massachusetts to solely offer peer support as well as tangible and practical resources to give people the tools and hope to find their path for living a meaningful life with an SCI/D. We are most proud of our nationally-recognized peer mentor program that provides positive peer role models to injured individuals and their families both during inpatient and after rejoining the community. We also offer a variety of resources including support groups and social events. SCIboston has never charged for its services. The Chapter relies solely on donations, sponsors, and grants to fund its peer programs. To learn more about us click here!
