The Greater Boston Chapter (GBC) of United Spinal Association (soon to be known as SCIboston) is pleased to return to our annual in-person gala this Spring!
An Evening of Celebration and Live Storytelling to Honor the SCI Community
Saturday, April 1, 2023
5:30pm
Dedham Hilton in Dedham, MA
Cocktail Attire
Members of the SCI community are invited to our Annual Fundraising Gala, to celebrate the GBC’s 30 year anniversary. Join family, friends, sponsors, and those who support the SCI community for an evening of socializing, silent auction, dinner, and a special live storytelling event from members of the GBC community, in partnership with Health Story Collaborative. (http://www.healthstorycollaborative.org)
The funds raised at this event will support our ongoing mission to reach, inspire, support, and empower individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders and their family members. This is done through our programs, which include one-on-one Peer Mentoring, Virtual Support Groups, the SCI Transition Program, and Education Programs.
The GBC continues to be honored to welcome individuals and their family members to come together to give and receive support. With the Chapter’s 10 different support group offerings, we’ve created dedicated spaces for new injuries, Spanish speakers, women, men, family members, significant others, and a nutrition group in partnership with Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital’s dietitians. We continue to offer one-on-one Peer Mentoring, provided by over 25 peer mentors, as well as our Saturday Education Series, which provides virtual, interactive education on topics such as adaptive driving and bladder and bowel management. In 2022, we began our SCI Transition Program. This program is aimed to assist motivated individuals with SCI who reside in nursing homes to transition back to living in their communities. For the members of the GBC community, these different avenues of support have been described as “invaluable”, “a lifeline”, and even “like family”.
Thank you for your continued commitment and support of the GBC. We look forward to sharing this exciting evening with you!
